Curry Studio and Gallery
|
Curry Studio and Gallery is nestled in a remote artists' community in the Big Bend region of West Texas. Located on historic Murphy Street in the heart of downtown Alpine, the Curry's have built their home and work space from waste paper products. Their home/studio/gallery is constructed from papercrete, an alternative building material using water, paper, sand and cement. Featured in Texas Highways Magazine and Texas Country Reporter, the studio combines ancient building methods with high energy-efficient modern day materials and building technology. In their quest to find a sustainable and earth-friendly building material, the Curry's built their one-of-a-kind home and work place from other people's trash, thus keeping it out of a west Texas landfill. |
