Need student contents insurance & my custom built laptop?

Hey,

is this student contects insurance for you personally or for your children? if its for your children most companies offer cover for your childs possesions whilst at university as standard although you do need to check your policy. with regards to the laptop it is not a problem as long as it is listed on your policy. i would recomend making a list of the components used and the costs and make sure you are covered for the right value. you will need to cover it under ‘all risks’ or ‘personal possesions’ as this will ensure it is covered for all eventualities and make sure you have accidental damage cover on your policy as it wont be covered if you drop it otherwise!

if the student contents is for yourself it is all the same as the above but you will have to shop around for your own policy and be prepared to pay a bit as insurance companies rate students as a high risk so they will charge you for it.
