Have a 1962 gibson les paul deluxe is it worth anything?

I have a friend looking to sell their 1962 gibson les paul deluxe. Just wondering how much money it would be worth.
I saw the guitar, it may not have been a deluxe. I really don’t know anything about guitars. And neither do they, supposedly her dad gave it to her. I do know that they said it is a 1962 and it had the sunburst paint on it. The serial number on it is 051389 if that helps.

A 62 DeLuxe does not exist. It was produced from 1968/69. It was fairly successful, although not amongst the most sought after. Someone must be pulling your leg here…

The value of an early model – all original, non-repaired model (these are gold top with mini humbuckers) – can perhaps reach $5000+ depending on where you sell it.

To get a more exact appraisal you would have to get in touch with the people dealing with these vintage guitars, like Gruhn in Nashville or Mandolin Bros. in New York.

EDIT: I see that others are dreaming about fantacy prices… Given this is a DeLuxe and not a Standard or Custom, then you can forget about $20000. Elderly lists these instruments (71-72) in the price bracket of approx. $3000 (where they belong).
As I said – they were made from 68/69 and will not reach more than $5500 (max) – unless you really have one heck of a mint condition thing.
